What the Evening Close keeps, and why.
You write the day out here, which is personal. This page says exactly what is stored, who handles it, and how to have it removed. No advertising, no tracking pixels, nothing sold.

Who is responsible
The Evening Close is run by Energy Led, Wiener Str. 29, 10999 Berlin, Germany. The controller under the GDPR is its owner, Daniel Martin Burckhardt. Contact for anything on this page: daniel.m.burckhardt@gmail.com.
What is stored
| Data | Why | Legal basis |
|---|---|---|
| Email address, hashed password, account and invite details, the cohort you joined | To give you an account, sign you in and confirm your address | Art. 6(1)(b), the service you signed up for |
| Your closes: what you write, the energy level you give, and the reply | This is the service. The reply is written from it, past closes shape your trace, and replies are reviewed to improve their quality | Art. 6(1)(b) |
| How you use a close: when you open it, time on screen, how far you scroll, your answers to the check-ins | To see whether the close is actually useful and improve it | Art. 6(1)(f), legitimate interest in improving the service |
| The device type and browser string of the request that sent a close | To see whether people close on phone or laptop, and to fix display problems | Art. 6(1)(f) |
| Survey answers, if you give them | To judge whether the product is worth building further | Art. 6(1)(a), your consent. Every question after the first can be skipped |
| Standard server logs kept by the host (such as IP address and time of request) | Security and running the site | Art. 6(1)(f) |
Please do not write health details or other special category data about yourself or others unless you are comfortable with it being processed as described here. The Evening Close is not therapy and not clinical support.
An email address is needed for an account. Everything else you write is up to you.
Cookies and local storage
One cookie, ec_session, keeps you signed in for up to 30 days. It is strictly necessary, so it needs no consent banner. The browser's local storage may hold a display setting. There are no analytics or advertising cookies.
Who processes it for us
- A hosting provider, which runs the site and stores the account and close data.
- An AI model provider, which writes each reply. Your close text is sent to it for that purpose only.
- An email provider, which sends the confirmation, morning and survey emails.
Each acts as a processor under a data processing agreement. All three are based in the United States, so data leaves the EU; the transfer rests on the EU–US Data Privacy Framework or the European Commission's standard contractual clauses. Nobody else receives your data, and it is never sold.
How long it is kept
For as long as your account exists. When you delete a close in the app, its text and reply are removed; a record that a close was made on that day stays so the daily limit still works. When you ask for your account to be deleted, the account and every close it wrote are deleted.
Your rights
You can ask for access to your data, a copy in a portable format, correction, deletion, or restriction of processing, and you can object to processing based on legitimate interest. Where you gave consent, you can withdraw it at any time. Write to the address above and we will answer within a month.
You also have the right to lodge a complaint with a data protection supervisory authority.
